Does God Have a Gender?

When hearing about God the Mother for the first time, it’s normal for people to have a reaction of surprise, and even disbelief — until they see it in the Bible.

Many people believe God has no gender. Even Christians who say they believe in the Bible also believe God has no gender. Yet, the Bible proves otherwise.

The Trinity Has a Gender: Male

The Trinity refers to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. However, many Christians may not understand the Trinity because churches nowadays can’t even teach this basic knowledge of God (I heard this just two weeks ago from a family member and had heard it from other relatives in the past who have no idea what the Trinity means). But even without fully understanding the Trinity, the Bible shows that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit all carry a gender — male.

God the Father has a gender in the Old Testament.

Exodus 3:15 (NLT) God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel: Yahweh, the God of your ancestors — the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob — has sent me to you.” . . . “Tell them, ‘Yahweh, the God of your ancestors—the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—has appeared to me. He told me, “I have been watching closely, and I see how the Egyptians are treating you.”‘”

God the Son has a gender in the New Testament.

Philippians 2:5 (NLT) You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.

But if this verse does not convince you, just remember that he did come to the world as a man.

God the Holy Spirit has a gender in the New Testament.

John 16:13 (NLT) When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.

Whenever the Holy Spirit is referenced in the New Testament, it’s as a male (he). If the Holy Spirit had no gender, the Bible could’ve easily referred to him as “it.”

There is a female image of God.

The Bible further explains God’s gender. And it clarifies there is not only a male image of God but also a female image.

Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness.

Genesis 1:27 God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

From the very beginning of Genesis, God makes it clear that there is a male image and a female image of God. Despite what many think, God does, in fact, have a gender. However, people’s misconceptions, misunderstandings, and self-constructed image of what God looks like have led them to not believe the Bible. Everyone has a personal interpretation of God. And while everyone is entitled to their own opinion, God exists but not according to people’s standards. God Elohim in the Bible is God the Father and God the Mother.

Understanding God’s gender through the history of Abraham’s family.

Luke 16:19-24 “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me . . .'”

Jesus told the parable of the rich man and Lazarus to teach us something about heaven and hell. In the parable, Jesus describes Lazarus as being carried to Abraham’s side, referring to his going to heaven. Even the rich man, who is in hell, calls out to “Father Abraham” to have pity on him.

So why does this parable matter as it pertains to God’s gender?

Matthew 23:9 And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.

The Bible teaches us only God is our Father. So Jesus told us this parable to teach us that Abraham represents God the Father. And through Abraham’s family, we can understand God’s family.

So in the Bible, God the Father is, well, male.

And just as the Bible compares Abraham to God the Father, it also compares his wife, Sarah, to God the Mother.

Galatians 4:26 (NLT) But the other woman, Sarah, represents the heavenly Jerusalem. She is the free woman, and she is our mother.

Through the history of Abraham’s family, we can understand God’s gender: male and female.

So if you were wondering whether or not God has a gender, the answer is yes. According to the Bible, in heaven, we have God the Father and God the Mother. And the Bible also testifies that They would come to this earth as human beings — as a man and as a woman.

There are the male image of God and the female image of God who are God the Father and God the Mother. We have not only physical parents but also spiritual parents.

Definitely, God has a gender. The Bible clearly says that God exists as Father and Mother, and Christ would appear as male and female.

Everything is so clearly explained that there is no room for any argument. This is not something new, but the same Bible people have been reading for thousands of years since it was given to us. But now, the true meaning is revealed. Thanks to Heavenly Father Ahnsahnghong and Heavenly Mother New Jerusalem.

This article is so clear! How since the beginning God said “let US,” showing us that God of the Male image and God of Female image exist. In heaven, we have Parents just as on earth we have parents. Even through the story of Abraham and Sarah we can understand more about God the Father and God the Mother. Without mothers, no living organism can have life. Without the Mother of our spirit, our spirit will not be able to have eternal live. Let us firmly believe in God the Father and God the Mother and receive Salvation 🙂
