Is the Heavenly Jerusalem an Actual Place?

Did Christ Ahnsahnghong Deny Heavenly Mother Jerusalem?

Have you ever been to Hershey, Pennsylvania? Do you know who it was named after? Milton Hershey, a famous chocolatier. What about the nation of Israel? Biblically, it was named after Jacob. In Genesis 32:28, God told Jacob that his name would no longer be Jacob, but Israel. And the nation of Israel was named after him.

Like this, there are many towns, cities, countries and even continents named after people. The Americas were named after Amerigo Vespucci, an Italian merchant, explorer and cartographer. In the same way, the heavenly New Jerusalem was named after Heavenly Mother Jerusalem.

There Is the City of God, the Heavenly Jerusalem

Many people claim that the Church of God created the idea of God the Mother. They even go as far as saying that Christ Ahnsahnghong Himself denied the existence of Heavenly Mother Jerusalem. In the early 80’s, to respond to a woman’s delusional claims that she was God the Mother, Christ Ahnsahnghong wrote a book entitled, The New Jerusalem and the Bride: Interpretation on Women’s Veil. One of the chapters in this book was called, “The Heavenly New Jerusalem is an Actual Place.” And because Christ Ahnsahnghong said this, people who don’t believe in God the Mother, use it to support their false claims.

Christ Ahnsahnghong also explained this in another one of his books, Visitors from the Angelic World:

According to astronomers, our galaxy is a hundred thousand light years in diameter and it contains about two hundred billion stars like the sun; moreover there are about two hundred billion galaxies in the universe. In the center of the great universe, which contains two hundred billion galaxies, there is “the city of God, the heavenly Jerusalem” (Heb 12:22-23); there is located the throne of God. When God heard Daniel’s prayer and sent Gabriel to him at His throne in the capital of the universe, which is several hundred million light years away, Daniel was still in prayer (Dan 9:20-24).

By writing that the heavenly New Jerusalem is an actual place, did Christ Ahnsahnghong imply there is no God the Mother? Absolutely not. Christ Ahnsahnghong correctly stated that the heavenly New Jerusalem is an actual place. But it does not mean that God the Mother does not exist.

The Holy City, New Jerusalem, the Wife of the Lamb

Take a look at an excerpt from another one of Christ Ahnsahnghong’s books, Mystery of God and the Spring of the Water of Life. Here, He explains about Heavenly Mother Jerusalem – the New Jerusalem that is in the book of Revelation.

On the sixth day, God made livestock and wild animals, and He created Adam and Eve last of all (Ge 1:24-31). The Bible says that Adam was a pattern of the one to come [Jesus] (Ro 5:14). It also says that the first man [Adam] was of the dust of the earth and the second [Jesus] from heaven (1 Co 15:44-49). In Rev 22:17, the last Adam and Eve are called the Spirit and the Bride.

Rev 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.

The above prophecy shows that Jesus – the second Adam – who came 1,900 years ago will come in the flesh again in the last days and lead all the animals [Gentiles]. The Bible calls the Gentiles, who are to be saved, “all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air” (Ac 10:1-16; Ac 10:24-29). The prophetic period of the sixth day is the time from 1978 – when the Reformers appeared and established Protestant churches – to the last day when the mission of the Church of God will be complete.

When we look deeper in the book of Revelation, we can see that the New Jerusalem mentioned here is the bride of the Lamb.

Revelation 21:9-10 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.

First, who is the Lamb in the Bible?

John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

The Lamb is Jesus Christ. In Revelation, the Holy City, Jerusalem, is the wife of the Lamb and she is coming down out of heaven to the earth. Just as the Lamb is symbolic for Jesus who comes in the flesh, the Holy City is also symbolic for the wife of Christ. In other words, the Heavenly Jerusalem is the wife of Christ. She is the wife of our Father. Christ Ahnsahnghong Himself testified that God the Mother, Heavenly Mother Jerusalem exists.

Heavenly Mother Jerusalem

Galatians 4:26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.

The Jerusalem that is the wife of Christ (God our Father) is described as our mother in the book of Galatians. Through this, we can understand that while the heavenly Jerusalem is an actual place, as Christ Ahnsahnghong testified, Heavenly Mother Jerusalem is testified in the Bible. She is the wife of Christ.

Just as Israel was named after Jacob and most of the cities of Israel were named after his 12 sons, the Heavenly Jerusalem that Christ Ahnsahnghong wrote about in his two books, was named after our Heavenly Mother Jerusalem.

God the Mother is not a made-up concept by the World Mission Society Church of God. She is testified in the Bible. Christ Ahnsahnghong’s writing about the heavenly Jerusalem being an actual place is not to deny our Heavenly Mother, but to further testify about Her existence. The heavenly Jerusalem exists because of our Heavenly Mother Jerusalem.

God bless you. I just love the way this article has been presented. The introduction itself contains everything. In modern terms we can say, “The intro has killed it!!” It has brought me to think in a different level. The Heavenly Jerusalem City (actual city in heaven) is named after the Heavenly Jerusalem, God the Mother. Just as Israel (country) was named after a Jacob, who was later called Israel (a person), Heavenly Jerusalem is named after God the Mother. Thanks to Father and Mother. We Love You.
