The World Mission Society Church of God Established by Christ

The World Mission Society Church of God established by Christ Ahnsahnghong boasts more than 2.5 million members across 175 countries. It teaches about Second Coming Christ and the existence of God the Mother. And all of its teachings are directly from the Bible. However, this has been the source of a lot of misconceptions. Many people label the Church of God as heretic and say its teachings are not from Jesus Christ.

I, on the other hand, believe with great conviction this is the true church established by God. And in this post, I will prove to you why — through the Bible.

The Name

There are several characteristics in the Bible that let us know which is the true church that God established. I remember conversing with an old college friend a few years ago about the Church I attend. She asked the name, and when I said, “Church of God,” she laughed. She said sarcastically, “Well, that’s original!” This left me thinking that people don’t realize the importance of the name of the church that God establishes. And because it’s so common now, they expect the church to be named after a disciple or a pope or another human.

Christ came to the earth 2,000 years ago with the purpose of gathering His people who were to receive salvation. And to gather them, He established one church — the church of God. The disciples who believed Christ knew He wasn’t just a teacher or a prophet. They understood He was God in human form. So the church He established was literally the church that belonged to God.

1 Corinthians 1:2-3 (NLT) I am writing to God’s church in Corinth.
1 Corinthians 1:2-3 (NIV) […] to the church of God in Corinth.

In the apostolic age, there was only one church. So it was natural for it to be called the church of God wherever it was established.

Before Apostle Paul became a follower of Christ, he used to persecute Christ’s church — the church of God.

Galatians 1:13 (NIV) For you have heard of my previous way of life in Judaism, how intently I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it.

As Christians, the guide for our beliefs and our religion is the Bible because the Bible was inspired by God Himself.

2 Timothy 3:15-16 (NLT) You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true […] It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.

The Bible was inspired by God and teaches us what is true. Yet the only church name that appears in the Bible is the church of God. So in God’s eyes His true church and His people are only in the church of God. And this is why:

Acts 20:28 Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.

God Himself established the church of God through His own blood shed on the cross. In other words, the reason Christ suffered on the cross was to establish His church so His people could gather there to receive the truth and receive eternal life. This is why it’s important first to know the name of the church God established.

However, nowadays, there are so many churches called the church of God. So which is the real one? Is it only the name that matters?

The Church of God Observes the Sabbath Day

Apostle Paul traveled throughout many regions and established many churches of God. That is why he continuously wrote letters to all the churches. This means that Apostle Paul taught them the teachings to follow, as he received them from Christ.

Acts 17:2 (NLT) As was Paul’s custom, he went to the synagogue service, and for three Sabbaths in a row he used the Scriptures to reason with the people.

While preaching in Thessalonica, Paul kept the Sabbath day. This sets the example for us that even after Christ resurrected, the church and the disciples kept the Sabbath day.

Acts 18:4 (NLT) Each Sabbath found Paul at the synagogue, trying to convince the Jews and Greeks alike.

While preaching in Corinth, Paul also kept the Sabbath day and taught people the Scriptures just as he received the teachings from Christ.

Luke 4:16 (NLT) […] he went as usual to the synagogue on the Sabbath and stood up to read the Scriptures.

Jesus Christ kept the Sabbath day and taught people from the Scriptures all the truths of God. So the church that is from God must also keep the Sabbath day just as Jesus Christ kept it.

The Church of God Celebrates the Passover

1 Corinthians 11:22-25 Don’t you have homes to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God […] For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

Apostle Paul taught the members of the church of God to celebrate the Passover, which he received from Christ. This is the same Passover Jesus Christ celebrated with Peter and John and all the other disciples.

Luke 22:8, 14-15 (NLT) Jesus sent Peter and John ahead and said, “Go and prepare the Passover meal, so we can eat it together.” […] When the time came, Jesus and the apostles sat down together at the table. Jesus said, “I have been very eager to eat this Passover meal with you before my suffering beings.”

During the time of Jesus, the people of Israel celebrated the Passover with the slaughtering of a lamb. However, Jesus taught His disciples to celebrate the New Covenant Passover with bread and wine. And on the Passover, the bread became Christ’s body and the wine became His blood.

And this is the same Passover that the disciples continued celebrating even after Jesus’ resurrection. So the church of God today should celebrate the New Covenant Passover — eating Christ’s flesh and drinking his blood — through the bread and wine.

Women in the Church of God Wear Veils

The Church of God also observes the regulation of the women’s veil.

1 Corinthians 11:4 (NLT) A man dishonors his head if he covers his head while praying or prophesying. But a woman dishonors her head if she prays or prophesies without a covering on her head […] (NIV) If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice — nor do the churches of God.

Just as the church of God did 2,000 years ago, the church of God today should follow the regulation of the head covering. To give all honor to God, women should cover their heads during prayer and worship, and men should not. Biblically, a church that does not follow this regulation is not the true church of God.

The Church of God Believes in God the Mother

Apostle John attended the church of God. He kept the Passover with Jesus Christ and carried out the gospel work alongside Peter and Paul. Apostle John also saw the vision about the Spirit and the Bride and wrote it down in the Bible for us to know about it today.

Revelation 22:17 (NLT) The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” Let anyone who hears this say, “Come.” Let anyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who desires drink freely from the water of life.

The Spirit and the bride in the book of Revelation are God the Father and God the Mother who are giving eternal life to their children. The church of God must believe in God the Father and God the Mother and show God’s people the way to receive eternal life from them.

Even Apostle Paul testified about God the Mother to all the churches of God.

Galatians 4:26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.

Jesus Christ established the Church of God with His own blood. In that Church, He established the New Covenant Passover so that His people could receive His flesh and blood, which grants eternal life. He taught us the way to keep the Sabbath day so we may receive rest for our spirits. He taught us about the regulation of the women’s veil so we may give glory to God during prayer and worship. And he let us know about our Heavenly Mother. The true church of God must have all of these. And if it doesn’t, then the Bible lets us know it’s not the true church Christ established.

The World Mission Society Church of God today is the only church that carries the name of God’s church and keeps all of the teachings of the true Church, in accordance with the Bible.
